Jesus – Greater than Our: Past – Present – Future
The One Constant in Every Season of Your Life
SCRIPTURE:
Hebrews 13:8 CSB - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
OBSERVATION:
In Hebrews 13, the author closes with a profound, anchoring truth:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
This pivotal statement assures us that God has not changed and will not change. He has always desired to show grace to His people.
This truth is foundational—it assures us that God's character and intentions have never changed. From creation to the cross, from our past to eternity, God remains unchanging in His love, grace, and mercy.

Many people misunderstand God—as though He’s a cosmic cop out to stop our fun. But Scripture paints a radically different picture. (Josh McDowell – Don’t Check Your Brains at the Door)
When Moses asked to see God's glory, God described Himself this way:
Exodus 34:6-7 CSB - The LORD passed in front of him and proclaimed: The LORD -- the LORD is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But he will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers' iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.
God has always been gracious—even from the beginning. In the Garden, after Adam and Eve sinned, God covered their shame with the first innocent sacrifice.
Genesis 3:21-22 CSB - The LORD God made clothing from skins for the man and his wife, and he clothed them. The LORD God said, "Since the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, he must not reach out, take from the tree of life, eat, and live forever."
This foreshadowed what Jesus would later do on the cross—covering us with righteousness through His sacrifice. It was not a reactive plan. It was God’s plan from the beginning.
John 3:16-17 CSB - "For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
APPLICATION:
Wherever you are in your walk—whether you’re thriving, struggling, or stumbling—this truth remains firm:
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Yesterday – When we were lost, Jesus died for us. Even before we knew we needed a Savior, He was already the solution. Your past does not define you—Jesus does.
Today – If you’re caught in sin or discouraged, know this: Jesus isn’t out to destroy you. He wants to restore you. Repent, return, and receive the grace He still offers.
Tomorrow – On the day of judgment, your sin will not stand in your way—Jesus already bore it on the cross.
Colossians 2:13-15 NKJV - And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
PRAYER:
Jesus, thank You that You never change. Because You are the same yesterday, today, and forever, I can live in the assurance of Your love and forgiveness. Help me walk in Your grace, defined not by my past but by the cross. Let my life reflect Your unchanging love so that others are drawn to You through me.

Your past doesn't define you, your present doesn't disqualify you, and your future doesn't frighten Him — because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
