God Will Never Fail

Nothing Is Impossible with God

SCRIPTURE:
Luke 1:37 NLT - For the Word of God will never fail.

OBSERVATION:
If you've ever read Luke’s account of Jesus's birth and His herald, John the Baptist, you are familiar with this verse.

Most translations say:

“For with God, nothing will be impossible.” or, “For nothing is impossible with God.”

Although expressed differently, both statements are true. God’s Word will never fail!

We often use the word “impossible.” Why? Because, in and of ourselves, many things — even what God has said — are impossible for us. But our impossibilities are God’s abilities, or better yet, His enabling.

For Mary, who had just learned that she would give birth to the Messiah, it seemed impossible from a human point of view. Why? She was not married, a virgin, and would stay that way! Anyone claiming to be pregnant as a virgin is usually met with disbelief and laughter. We know it’s impossible — but with God, nothing is impossible.

God specializes in fulfilling the impossible.

Need more proof? Consider Zechariah and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was elderly, far beyond childbearing age. To humans, it seemed impossible. But with God, everything is possible. Despite their doubts and feelings of impossibility, God stayed faithful.

2 Timothy 2:13 NLT - If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.

We see this in Zechariah. In his doubt, he was made mute, but it did not alter God’s plans.

Luke 1:18-20 NLT - Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure this will happen? I'm an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years." Then the angel said, "I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! But now, since you didn't believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time."

God’s words will come true — at the right time!

What has God asked you to wait for? Don’t give up — the “how” will come, and God will prove Himself true once again.

APPLICATION:
Perhaps the “impossible” you face today is a loved one who hasn't yet received the gift of salvation. Remember, nothing is impossible with God — He saved you and me, and He can save anyone.

We, like John the Baptist, need to direct people toward Jesus.

Luke 1:77-79 NLT - You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins. Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace."

While we wait to see God work, share the Good News!

“For the Word of God will never fail!”

PRAYER:
Jesus, thank You that nothing is impossible with You — even the hardest parts of my heart, the most lost of the lost, and life's greatest challenges. If You said it, You will keep Your promises. Help me cling to You, even when things seem impossible.
God’s Word never fails — our impossibilities are His opportunities.
