The End

The Story Isn’t Over
SCRIPTURE:
Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV - And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
OBSERVATION:
Have you ever wondered why we use the phrase “The End” to close a story? It’s simple: the phrase "The End" at the conclusion of a book signals that the story is finished and that the narrative has come to an end.
This statement at the end of Matthew's Gospel is very fitting. Jesus doesn't say, “The End,” and tell everyone to go home. He doesn't declare, "My story is finished; I'll see you later." Instead, He says, “I will be with you until the end.”
What words of comfort! If we didn’t have these last two verses of this chapter, you might think it was just a big scam, a cover-up. The Jewish leaders bribed the soldiers to lie and say, “His disciples came and stole His body.”
Though many have tried to disprove the resurrection, they have failed. The story they tried to spread backfired. The truth is, He is risen – The End!
But it's not the end of the story, only the beginning. The end will come someday, but until then, Jesus said, “I will be with you until the end of the age.”

APPLICATION:
When Christ saith, ‘I will be with you,’ you may add what you will; to protect you, to direct you, to comfort you, to carry on the work of grace in you, and in the end to crown you with immortality and glory. All this and more is included in this precious promise. – John Trapp.
As we fulfill the Great Commission, our part in the story's ending is unfolding. Remember, Jesus is with us until the very end. This is not just a nice saying or a way to finish the story; it is the truth.
John 16:5-7 NKJV - "But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?' But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”
We have His presence living in us, encouraging and guiding us – to the end!
PRAYER:
Thank You, Jesus, for the promise that You will be with us until the end—that You will never leave us or forsake us. You fulfilled this promise through the gift of Your Spirit, and You keep it every day, and You will until The End.
