An Acceptable Time
Yesterday's Grace Is Not Enough for Today
SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 NKJV - We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
OBSERVATION:
If today is the acceptable time, the day of salvation, we should actively share the grace of God with those around us.
Paul says, “as workers together with Him.” The work God has for you and me to do is not works unto salvation. That is the work of grace, freely given at the cross. This work is not a continuation of salvation, as if grace only saved us and works keep us. No! It is a work of sharing the Good News with a world that is lost, just as you and I were lost.
Paul goes on to say, “We then, as workers together with Him, also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.” Is it possible to receive the grace of God in vain? Yes!
Is the grace of God bearing fruit in your life? Not fruit unto salvation, but fruit as a result of salvation. By grace, we can bear fruit.
Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (10) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
God has good works for you and me to walk in.

God’s grace is always coming to my heart and life in a wonderful, blessed experience of the now. Yesterday’s grace is totally inadequate for today’s burden, and if I do not learn to lay hold of heavenly resources every day of my life, for the little things as well as the big things, I soon become stale, barren, and fruitless in the service of the Lord. – Alan Redpath.
Have you and I grown stale, barren, and fruitless in the Lord’s service? If so, let it be a sign that we need God’s grace once again in our lives. May it rejuvenate, revive, and motivate us to share His grace with those around us.
APPLICATION:
If you find yourself stale, barren, and fruitless in the Lord's service, take heart, for Paul quoted Isaiah 49 in these two verses.
"In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
The amazing thing about grace is that it is not dependent on you or me. It’s dependent on Jesus Christ. He will never stop giving it to us. We need to embrace it, live it, learn it, and let it guide us each day.
He has heard you and helped you. Today is the day of salvation!
May every day be a reminder of this Amazing Grace that God has given us! May we, like Paul, work together with HIM to share it with a lost and dying world desperate for God’s salvation and grace.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I am found. I was blind, but now I see.
PRAYER:
Jesus, may I never receive YOUR grace in vain. May it always be a truth that holds me and keeps me.

God's grace isn't a one-time event to look back on — it's a daily resource to draw from and a living message to share with a world that desperately needs it.
