Still, believers are called to look and act differently—not with self-righteous superiority but with the humble recognition that we are sinners who have found forgiveness at the cross and are being changed by grace. That difference should show up practically in how we handle our sexuality, how we love one another, how we mind our own business rather than sniffing out others' sins, and how we behave in the presence of those who are watching. Positionally Holy, Practically Being Made So 1 Thessalonians 3:13 CSB - May he make your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. Holiness has two dimensions that must be held together—positional holiness, the imputed righteousness of Christ already secured for us at the cross, and practical holiness, the daily work of the Holy Spirit shaping us more into the image of God. We are already declared blameless before the Father because of what Jesus has done, and we are simultaneously being made blameless through what His Spirit continues to do in us through every ordinary day and every fiery trial. Trials are not interruptions to God's sanctifying work — they are the furnace through which it happens, the very means by which He molds and perfects us into what He has already declared us to be. Faith, Hope, and Love Don't Just Exist — They Produce 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 NKJV - We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, Paul's gratitude for the Thessalonians was not rooted in their perfection — they had moral failures, doctrinal errors, and needed significant correction — but in the undeniable evidence of the Holy Spirit's work producing real fruit in their lives. The three great Christian virtues of faith, hope, and love are not passive qualities to be admired but active forces that produce something: work, labor, and patience — visible fruit that even imperfect believers can bear when they are walking with Jesus. Just as a tree does not strain or strive to produce fruit but grows as it was designed to, spiritual fruit is not the result of our grunting and striving but the natural and supernatural overflow of a life rooted in Christ.
